Hi, I’m Katie I’Anson. I’ve been working as a birth and postnatal doula in the North East of England since 2013. I did my training on the Paramana doula course with Michel Odent and Lilliana Lammers, and then completed the mentoring process and became a ‘recognised’ Doula UK doula in 2014. I later trained with Red Tent Doulas.
I’m passionate about providing families with the support that they need during this intense and life-changing period of their lives. I work with families in all birth settings, for all types of births and am committed to providing non-judgemental and compassionate support. I have 3 children and am expecting my fourth in august 2017, but am still available to support families with due dates up to mid-July.
I have had a cesarean birth, a hospital vbac and a homebirth so far and recognise that every pregnancy, birth and baby are unique and there is never a right or wrong way to birth. I aim to help you to make the decisions that suit you and that make you feel confident and happy throughout your pregnancy.
I have a birth pool to hire (free for doula clients) and shelves upon shelves of birth and parenting books for you to borrow. I also have a range of slings that you can try out and borrow.
